Fish has always been in Rafael’s roots. Rafael moved from his native fishing town in Venezuela to Norwalk in 1988 and became a line cook, working his way up to chef.
For three years Rafael owned Fish Tales, serving New England-style seafood. Rafael decided in 2017 that the time was right to make a change: He would turn Fish Tales in Pescaderia, which translates into fish shop. It’s a Spanish fish market, and Rafael wanted to make his Venezuelan arepas, along with tacos, rice bowls, burritos and salads to provide delicious additions to customary fish.
In May of 2017 La Pescaderia formally reopened with a bright, vibrant new look befitting a Spanish fish market. As one of the few places in New Canaan to get rice and beans, arepas and tacos for lunch, La Pescaderia is ready to serve you!
